The Cross (It Is Finished)

Matthew 16:24 - Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
The message God would have you receive today is: Obedience

1. Deny self.
2. Tale up your cross.
3. Follow him.

Follow Jesus where? Jesus took his cross to Calvary. He was obedient unto death. The final sacrifice for sin was made. Jesus took his cross to Calvary but he also left it there. (it is finished) He took the sins of the world to Calvary but he left them there. (It is finished.) He took death to Calvary but he left it there. (It is finished) Jesus took his flesh to Calvary but he left it there. (It is finished.)
Hebrews 12:2 - Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Author is the root word for authority. Jesus has authority and he said, “It is finished.”

Matthew 11:28/30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Jesus exchanges your cross for His yoke.)

Jesus carried the cross once as an act of obedience. I believe we only have to carry it once. (Note: Calvary is mentioned only once in the Bible.)

Jesus said you must take up your cross and follow him. Pick up your cross and carry it to Calvary. Leave it there. Become obedient unto death (self). Deny self. Take your sins to Calvary. Leave them there. Take the old man (self) to Calvary. Leave him. (It is finished)
James 1:15 - Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. (When death to self, the old man and sin come……..it is finished.)

Ephesians 4:24 - And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Romans 6:14 - For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:22 - But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life
John 8:32 - And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:36 - If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Have you taken up your cross and followed Jesus to Calvary? Did you leave your cross at Calvary or are you still carrying it? If you are still carrying it, then you still have the burden of self and sin. Jesus said, “It is finished”.
Have you been set free? Not with wisdom of words but by the power of the cross.

Prayer Ministry

The one thing that holds this ministry and our work together is our prayer ministry headed up by Karen Page and the prayer team known as the Twelve Disciples.  Did you know that our prayer register has over 300 requests to date?  Each of the names is called out to the Lord everyday not just on Wednesday.  It is a humbling thing to call out 300 names to the Lord knowing that you need as much prayer as any of these names.  Many people will be touched by the Lord through Hands Up Ministry who otherwise might never attend church.

 MISSIONS AT WORK

INVESTMENT FOR AN ETERNITY
By
Tom Meadows

The latest news on La Resolana is the church completion is a matter of cosmetics.  The outside of the church still needs stuccoing and funds ran out due to inflation and the exchange rate of the Peso.  I am working with the Missionary in hopes of seeing it's full completion soon.

Holy HUMor

Sunday after church, a Mom asked her very young daughter what the lesson was about. The daughter answered, "Don't be scared, you'll get your quilt." Needless to say, the Mom was perplexed. Later in the day, the pastor stopped by for tea and the Mom asked him what that morning's Sunday school lesson was about.

He said "Be not afraid, thy comforter is coming."

========

The minister was preoccupied with thoughts of how he was going to ask the congregation to come up with more money than they were expecting for repairs to the church building. Therefore, he was annoyed to find that the regular organist was sick and a substitute had been brought in at the last minute. The substitute wanted to know what to play.
"Here's a copy of the service," he said impatiently. "But, you'll have to
think of something to play after I make the announcement about the
 finances."

During the service, the minister paused and said, "Brothers and Sisters, we are in great difficulty; the roof repairs cost twice as much as we expected and we need $4,000 more. Any of you who can pledge $100 or more, please stand up."  At that moment, the substitute organist played "The Star Spangled Banner."

And that is how the substitute became the regular organist!

God's 26 Guards

Here's a message that will bring you chills.
Have you ever felt the urge to pray for someone and Then just put it on a list and said, 'I'll pray for them later'
Or has anyone ever called you and said, I need you to pray for me, I have this need?'

Read the following story that was sent to me and may it change the way that you may think about prayer and also the way you pray. You will be blessed by this.....

A missionary on furlough told this true story while visiting his home church in Michigan .
While serving at a small field hospital in Africa , every two weeks I traveled by bicycle through the jungle to a nearby city for supplies. This was a journey of two days and required camping overnight at the halfway point.
On one of these journeys, I arrived in the city where I planned to collect money from a bank, purchase medicine, and supplies, and then begin my two-day journey back to the field hospital.
Upon arrival in the city, I observed two men fighting, one of whom had been seriously injured. I treated him for his injuries and at the same time talked to him about the Lord.
I then traveled two days, camping overnight, and arrived home without incident.....
Two weeks later I repeated my journey.
Upon arriving in the city, I was approached by the young man I had treated.
He told me that he had known I carried money and medicines.
He said, 'Some friends and I followed you in to the jungle, Knowing you would camp overnight. We planned to kill you and take your money and drugs. But just as we were about to move into your camp, We saw that you were surrounded by 26 armed guards.

At this, I laughed and said that I was certainly all alone in that jungle campsite..
The young man pressed the point, however, and said,
'No, sir, I was not the only person to see the guards, my friends also saw them, and we all counted them.
It was because of those guards that we were afraid and left you alone'
At this point in the sermon, one of the men in the congregation jumped to his feet and interrupted the missionary and asked if he could tell him the exact day this happened. The missionary told the congregation the date, and the man who interrupted told him this story:
On the night of your incident in Africa ,
it was morning here and I was preparing to go play golf. I was about to putt when I felt the urge to pray for you.
In fact, the urging of the Lord was so strong, I called men in this church to meet with me here in the sanctuary to pray for you.

Would all of those men who met with me on that day stand up?' The men who had met together to pray that day stood up.. The missionary wasn't concerned with whom they were, He was too busy counting how many men he saw.

There were 26.

This story is an incredible example of how the Spirit of the Lord moves in behalf of those who love Him. If you ever feel such prodding to pray, go along with it, you don't know what it can mean to that person.
Nothing is ever hurt by prayer except the gates of hell. I encourage you to forward this to as many people as you know. If we all take it to heart, we can turn this world toward God once again.
As the above true story clearly illustrates, With God all things are possible'.
More importantly, how God hears and answers the prayers of the faithful.

 'Excuse me, Are you Jesus?'

This is really powerful and makes one think!!!!

A few years ago a group of salesmen went to a regional sales convention in Chicago . They had assured their wives that they would be home in plenty of time for Friday night's dinner. In their rush, with tickets and briefcases, one of these salesmen inadvertently kicked over a table which held a display of apples. Apples flew everywhere. Without stopping or looking back, they all managed to reach the plane in time for their nearly missed boarding.

ALL BUT ONE !!! He paused, took a deep breath, and experienced a twinge of compassion for the girl whose apple stand had been overturned.

He told his buddies to go on without him, waved good-bye, told one of

Them to call his wife when they arrived at their home destination and explain his taking a later flight. Then he returned to the terminal where the apples were all over the terminal floor.

   He was glad he did.

The 16 year old girl was totally blind! She was softly crying, tears

Running down her cheeks in frustration, and at the same time helplessly

Groping for her spilled produce as the crowd swirled about her, no one

Stopping and no one to care for her plight.

The salesman knelt on the floor with her, gathered up the apples, put them back on the table and helped organize her display. As he did this, he noticed that many of them had become battered and bruised; these he set aside in another basket.

When he had finished, he pulled out his wallet and said to the girl,

'Here, please take this $40 for the damage we did. Are you okay?' She

Nodded through her tears. He continued on with, 'I hope we didn't spoil your day too badly.'

As the salesman started to walk away, the bewildered blind girl called out to him, 'Mister....' He paused and turned to look back into those blind eyes. She continued,

 'Are you Jesus?'

He stopped in mid-stride, and he wondered. Then slowly he made his way to catch the later flight with that question burning and bouncing about in his soul: 'Are you Jesus?'

Do people mistake you for Jesus?

That's our Destiny, is it not? To be so much like Jesus that people

Cannot tell the difference as we live and interact with a world that is blind to His love, life and grace.  If we claim to know Him, we should live, walk and act as He would.

Knowing Him is more than simply quoting Scripture and going to church.  It's actually living the Word as life unfolds day to day.

You are the apple of His eye even though we, too, have been bruised by a fall. He stopped what He was doing and picked you and me up on a hill called Calvary and paid in full for our damaged fruit.

Please share this..... Sometimes we just take things for granted, when

We really need to be sharing what we know...Thanks

GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

TOO MANY CHRISTIANS ARE NO LONGER FISHERS OF MEN BUT KEEPERS OF THE AQUARIUM.

 The Necklace

The cheerful little girl with bouncy golden curls was almost five.
Waiting with her mother at the checkout stand, she saw them, a circle
of glistening white pearls in a pink foil box..

"Oh mommy please, Mommy. Can I have them? Please, Mommy,
 please?"

Quickly the mother checked the back of the little foil box and then
looked back into the pleading blue eyes of her little girl's upturned
 face.

"A dollar ninety-five. That's almost $2.00. If you really want
them, I'll think of some extra chores for you and in no time you can
save enough money to buy them for yourself.. Your birthday's only a
week away and you might get another crisp dollar bill from
 Grandma."

As soon as Jenny got home, she emptied her penny bank and counted out
17 pennies. After dinner, she did more than her share of chores and
she went to the neighbor and asked Mrs.. McJames if she could pick
dandelions for ten cents. On her birthday, Grandma did give her
another new dollar bill and at last she had enough money to buy the
 necklace.

Jenny loved her pearls. They made her feel dressed up and grown up.
She wore them everywhere, Sunday school, kindergarten, even to bed.
The only time she took them off was when she went swimming or had a
bubble bath. Mother said if they got wet, they might turn her neck
 green.

Jenny had a very loving daddy and every night when she was ready for
bed, he would stop whatever he was doing and come upstairs to read
her a story. One night as he finished the story, he asked Jenny ,
 "Do you love me?"

"Oh yes, daddy. You know that I love you."
 "Then give me your pearls."

The Necklace (continued)

"Oh, daddy, not my pearls. But you can have Princess, the white
horse from my collection , the one with the pink tail. Remember,
daddy? The one you gave me. She's my very favorite."
"That's okay, Honey, daddy loves you. Good night." And he
brushed her cheek with a kiss.

About a week later, after the story time, Jenny 's daddy asked again,
 "Do you love me?"
"Daddy, you know I love you."
 "Then give me your pearls."
"Oh Daddy, not my pearls. But you can have my
baby doll. The brand new one I got for my birthday. She is beautiful
and you can have the yellow blanket that matches her sleeper."

"That's okay. Sleep well. God bless you, little one.. Daddy
 loves you."
And as always, he brushed her cheek with a gentle kiss.
A few nights later when her daddy came in, Jenny was sitting on her
bed with her legs crossed Indian style.
As he came close, he noticed her chin was trembling and one silent
 tear rolled down her cheek.

"What is it, Jenny ? What's the matter?"
Jenny didn't say anything but lifted her little hand up to her daddy.
And when she opened it, there was her little pearl necklace. With a
little quiver, she finally said, "Here, daddy; this is for
 you."
With tears gathering in his own eyes, Jenny's daddy reached out with
one hand to take the dime store necklace, and with the other hand he
reached into his pocket and pulled out a blue velvet case with a
strand of genuine pearls and gave them to Jenny ...

He had them all the time. He was just waiting for her to give up the
dime-store stuff so he could give her the genuine treasure. So it is,
with our Heavenly Father. He is waiting for us to give up the cheap
things in our lives so that he can give us beautiful treasures.

God will never take away something without giving you somethi
ng better in its place.
