"Searching In 2012 - God Has A Passion"

No Other Name

It is once again Christmas time and there are those that say they are offended by the use of Christ’s name in Christmas.  In Spanish, Cristo mas means more of Christ, so we need more of Christ is Christmas than less.  The world likes the more or mas of Christmas but not the Christ of Christmas.   What about that name?

Luke 21:17 - And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.

Peter 4:14 - If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you.

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of our Savior.

Matthew 1:21 - And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Matthew 1:23 - Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

No other name has the power:

Mark 16:17 - And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

James 5:14 - Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

No other name has the gift of salvation:

John 1:12 - But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name

Acts 2:21 - And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Acts 4:12 - Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Romans 10:13 - For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

John 5:13 - These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

No other name has the authority:

John 14:13 - And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

1 John 3:23 - And this is his commandment, that we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

John 20:31 - But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

No other name has the Glory:

Luke 11:2 - And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Hebrews 1:4 - Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

Hebrews 13:15 - By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

No other name:

John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Philippians 2:9 - Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

Philippians 2:10 - That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.

Revelation 19:13 - And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

Revelation 19:16 - And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Let the world have their holidays but for us as Christians we will celebrate the Name Above All Names and give Him the Glory due His name Christ, Emmanuel, Jesus, Savior and Lord.

Prayer Ministry

The one thing that holds this ministry and our work together is our prayer ministry headed up by Karen Page and the prayer team known as the Twelve Disciples.  Did you know that our prayer register has over 300 requests to date?  Each of the names is called out to the Lord everyday not just on Wednesday.  It is a humbling thing to call out 300 names to the Lord knowing that you need as much prayer as any of these names.  Many people will be touched by the Lord through Hands Up Ministry who otherwise might never attend church.

He Saw You

(author unknown)

Once before the foundation of the world,

Jesus and His Father had a conversation

about the great plan of redemption.

That conversation included you.

Jesus looked down the corridors of time

and knew that you would be born.

He saw your needs when

He said to His Father, "I will go."

At the Father’s appointed time, Jesus came

to earth so that you would never

need to be far from Him. What an incredible

journey He made; what an awesome purpose

He had in mind. You were on His heart.

When He left His home in heaven,

He saw you; When He became a man on earth,

He was seeking you; When He stretched out

His hands upon the cross, He was reaching out

to you; When He returned to His Father,

He was preparing a place for you. He has called

you to shepherd His people. He is the one who

Keeps you, upholds you, and gives you strength,

You are the one He calls His own.

Conservatives

I have often wondered why it is that Conservatives are called the “right” and Liberals are called the “left.”

By chance I stumbled upon this verse in the Bible:

The heart of the wise inclines to the right,

but the heart of the fool to the left .”

Ecclesiastes 10:2 (NIV)

An Angel Wrote:

To handle yourself, use your head;

To handle others, use your heart.

Remember that,

Anger is only one letter short of danger.

If someone betrays you once, it’s his fault;

If he betrays you twice, it’s yours.

Great minds discuss ideas;

Average minds discuss events;

Small minds discuss people.

God gives every bird its food;

But he does not throw it into its nest.

He, who loses money, loses much;

He, who loses friends, loses more;

He, who loses faith, loses all.

Beautiful people are acts of nature;

But old people are works of art.

Learn from the mistakes of others;

You can’t live long enough to make them all yourself.

The tongue weighs practically nothing;

But so few people can hold it.

Many people will walk in and out of your life;

But only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.

HANDS UP MINISTRY CHRISTMAS

2011

Since 2000 the first year of ministry HUM has adopted at least one family to provide for their Christmas needs.  Each year that commitment has grown one additional family with the ministry.  As we are completing our twelfth year of ministry we will adopt twelve families through working with Richmond Redevelopment & Housing Authority.  In total with these twelve families we will have provided a Christmas celebration for 28 families through Weed & Seed plus an additional 6 families through Chesterfield Christmas Mother and 3 at large families and 54 families through RR&HA.   To date 91 families have been blessed by God through Hands Up Ministry.

"Thank you" to all who donated time, gifts, money, etc. in preparation for Hand Up Ministry's  CHRISTmas celebration on December 16, 2011.

Jesus said when you have done it unto the least of these you have done it unto me.

Hands Up Ministry held our annual HUM Christmas at Gilpin Court ministering to twelve families (totaling 29 children) that are working hard to better themselves.    We want to thank each and every person that prayed, donated, coordinated and delivered the Christmas presents.    We pray that God will bless each person.  You can view some pictures of our event by clicking on this link: Pictures

Merry Christmas to our HUM family and all our fellow employees at Philip Morris and Altria.

The children we touch today will be our leaders tomorrow.

   "Put Christ first and you will never be last."

Merry Christmas God Bless Your New Year
