Shadow of the Almighty

What is a shadow?

a dark image or shape cast on a surface by the interception of light rays

an area of relative darkness

a hint, image, or faint semblance:

a threatening influence

to screen or protect from light, heat, etc.;

to follow (a person) about secretly, in order to keep watch over his movements.

In the Bible the mentioning of shadow often refers or indicates God’s protection over His children. In studying the scripture about the “shadow of death” in Psalms 23 I came to understand through divine inspiration that death has no power over Christians because it cannot touch us.  As we walk through the valley where death exists all we see is its shadow because God’s light is shining upon death.  Light on any object casts it shadow but the shadow is only a dark outline of no substance.  The scripture does not say we walk through the valley of death but only its shadow.  The shadow has no effect because God is present.

Psalms 23:4 - Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

As Christians live under the watchful eye of the Lord there is refuge and protection. God’s promise is that he will never leave or forsake you.

Psalms 91:1 - He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Psalms 57:1 - Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge.

Psalms 17:8 - Keep me as the apple of the eye; hide me under the shadow of thy wings

Psalms 121:3 - He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

Remember the old saying: “behind every dark cloud is a silver lining.”  Well I tell you as a Christian if you trust and abide in Him:  “behind every cloud there is God.”  As the clouds come remember they create a shadow upon you and your circumstance but it is God’s light behind the clouds that cast the shadow.  A shadow cannot exist without light and Jesus is the light of the world.

Mark 9:7 - And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

Prayer Ministry

The one thing that holds this ministry and our work together is our prayer ministry headed up by Karen Page and the prayer team known as the Twelve Disciples.  Did you know that our prayer register has over 300 requests to date?  Each of the names is called out to the Lord everyday not just on Wednesday.  It is a humbling thing to call out 300 names to the Lord knowing that you need as much prayer as any of these names.  Many people will be touched by the Lord through Hands Up Ministry who otherwise might never attend church.

Missions Trip To Mexico

I am working with two local churches setting up a missions trip for spring of 2013 to build a church in Mezcala, Mexico.  The current church body is worshipping under a tarp covered area.  Our last church La Resolana is trying to help them as much as they can.  If you are interested in going on this trip contact me.

Almighty God!

Isn't it amazing how God works in our lives! On

a Saturday night several weeks ago, this

pastor was working late, and decided to call his

wife before he left for home. It was about 10:00 PM,

but his wife didn't answer the phone. The pastor

let it ring many times. He thought it was odd that

she didn't answer, but decided to wrap up a

few things and try again in a few minutes.

When he tried again she answered right away. He asked

her why she hadn't answered before, and she said that it

hadn't rung at their house. They brushed

it off as a  fluke and went on their merry ways.

The following Monday, the pastor

received a call at the church office, which was the

phone that he'd  used that Saturday night. The man that

he spoke with wanted to know why he'd called on

Saturday night. The pastor couldn't figure out what the man was talking about. Then the man said, "It rang and rang, but I didn't answer."

The pastor remembered the mishap and

apologized for disturbing him, explaining that he'd

intended to call his wife.  The man said, "That's, OK.

Let me tell you my story.

You see, I was planning to commit suicide on Saturday night, but before I did, I prayed, 'God if you're there, and you don't  want me to do this, give me a sign now.'

At that point my phone started to ring. I looked at the caller ID, and it said, 'Almighty God.' I was afraid to answer!"

The reason why it showed on the man's caller ID that the

call came from  "Almighty God" is because the church that the pastor attends is called Almighty God Tabernacle!!

Hands Up Christmas 2012

Since 2000 the first year of ministry HUM has adopted at least one family to provide for their Christmas needs.  Each year that commitment has grown one additional family with the ministry.  As we are completing our thirteenth year of ministry we will adopt thirteen families through working with Richmond Redevelopment & Housing Authority.  In total with these thirteen families we will have provided a Christmas celebration for 28 families through Weed & Seed plus an additional 6 families through Chesterfield Christmas Mother and 3 at large families and 67 families through RR&HA.   To date 91 families have been blessed by God through Hands Up Ministry.

Give your best for Jesus on His birthday in 2012!

I hope each of you will consider helping the efforts of HUM to minister to these needy families.  The children we touch today will be our leaders tomorrow.

"Put Christ first and you will never be last."

Mail from GOD

Hi!

As you got up this morning, I watched you and hope you would talk to me , even if it was just a few words, asking my opinion of thanking me for something good that happened in your life yesterday – but I noticed you were busy trying to find the right outfit to put on and wear to work.

I waited again. When you ran around the house getting ready I knew there would be a minutes for you to stop and say hello, but you were too busy. At one point you had to wait fifteen minutes nothing to do except sit in chair. Then I saw you spring to your feet. I thought you wanted to talk to me but you ran to the phone and called a friend to get the latest gossip.

I watched as you went to work and I waited patiently all day long. With all your activities I guess you were too busy to say anything to me. I noticed that before lunch you looked around, maybe you felt embarrassed to talk to me, that is why you didn’t bow your head. You glanced three or four tables over and noticed some of your friends talking to me briefly before they ate, but you didn’t. That’s okay. There is still more time left, and I have hope that you will talk to me, yet you went home and it seems as if you had lots of things to do. After a few of them were done you turned on the TV, I don’t know if you like TV or not, just about anything goes there & you spent a lot of time each day in front of it, not thinking about anything – just enjoying the show. I waited patiently again as you watched the TV and ate your meal but again you didn’t talk to me. Bedtime…I guess you felt too tired. After you said goodnight to your family you plopped into and fell asleep in no time. That’s okay because you may not realize that I am always there for you. I’ve got patience more than you will ever know. I even want to teach you how to be patient with others as well.

I love you so much that I wait everyday for a nod, prayer or thought or a thankful part of your heart. It is hard to have a one-sided conversation. Well you are getting up again and once again I will wait with nothing but love for you hoping that today you will give me some time. Have a nice day!

Your friend,

GOD
