CHALLENGES – Who Is Hands Up

PHILIP MORRIS, USA

January 2001 marked the 1st anniversary of Hands Up here at Philip Morris.  It is a blessing to celebrate this milestone and to see the power of the Lord moving here among us.  He has called from our midst speakers and leaders to guide and inspire us.  He has caused hearts to open and some who once were strangers to each other passing through the halls now fellowship together in the worship of our Heavenly Father.

This issue of the Hands Up Newsletter is presented with humble thanks to Him who ordained and instituted our group.  Let us use it for our edification and enjoyment .

Once again, there is an update on our sister organization at Park 500, "The Light".   We hope you will read “The Sun of God” by Javan Matthews and a call for involvement to help the homeless through donating handcrafted items via a fellow co-worker.  Also, check out what we have been up to off-site in the Side Bar articles.

May God bless you as you read this newsletter, and as you go about your day?  We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting!   If you would like a copy of this newsletter, contact Tom Meadows and give him your home and/or e-mail address.

A Prayer For The Office

Lord Jesus, as I enter this work place, I bring Your presence with me.

I speak Your peace, Your grace and Your perfect order into the atmosphere of this office.

I acknowledge Your Lordship over all that will be spoken, thought, decided, and accomplished within these walls.

Lord Jesus, I thank You for the gifts You have deposited in me.  I do not take them lightly but commit to using them responsibly and well.

Give me a fresh supply of truth and beauty on which to draw as I do my job.

Anoint my creativity, my ideas and my energy so that even my smallest task may bring You honor.

Lord, when I'm confused, guide me.  When I am weary, energize me.  Lord, when I am burned out, infuse me with the light of Your Holy Spirit.

May the work that I do and the way I do it bring hope, life, and courage to all that I come in contact with today.

And Oh Lord, even in this day's most stressful moments, may I rest on You.

In the mighty name that is above all names;

In the matchless name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I pray…

Amen

Put Your Hobby Where Your Heart Is

Mona Eno

Now that Spring has arrived we can find many reasons for rejoicing; the blessing of the weather, the beauty of the flowers and the chance to recover from high winter fuel bills.  Sadly, there are many who would love the opportunity to complain about heating bills – because that would mean that they had someplace to call home.

Did you know?

750,000 Americans will be without shelter this year, and 1.3 to 2 million Americans will be homeless sometime during the year

Women who are homeless usually end up that way because of domestic violence. Single women make up 12% of the homeless, and women with children make up 34%.

By some current estimates, more than one-third of America's homeless people are veterans.

In an effort to help homeless and needy individuals, crafters across the country are using their skills to provide warm hats, mittens, scarves and other articles.  Through grassroots programs such as Caps For Kids, knitters and crocheters can reach out to the less fortunate.  Hands Up crafters who would be willing to donate their time and talents in this type of effort may contact Mona Eno at 274-3508.

Update on "THE LIGHT"

FROM DARKNESS INTO LIGHT

Ronnie Waddell

Park 500

Since our first prayer meeting on June 27, 2000, we have grown from six to fifteen members who attend on a regular basis and we communicate by e-mail to fifty employees.  Our Lord started the Light Ministry because it was time for Him to turn Park 500’s darkness into light. It was timely for all of us, but especially for so many who are stepping out into a Christian walk for the very first time. They are willing to move out of their comfort zone and allow Christ to use them to bless others. God wants to teach us new things that only He can teach.

One very reassuring thought is that God knows the beginning, the middle, and the end and our job is to just walk by faith and not by sight. In His Word He promises to never leave us or forsake us and to be faithful to complete the good work He has begun.  Speaking of new works, we have started a Bible Study that meets twice a month. As new teachers step forward, we plan on weekly sessions.

We are expecting to see God move more and we are preparing for Him to take us to a new level. A place where the sick are healed and where miracles happen. Our prayer is that many more will hear a call from God to continue joining Him in what He is doing at Park 500.

                Psalms 23

Psalms 23

Tom Meadows - Leader

The Lord is:    2 Corinthians 3:17 – Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.  Hebrews 11:6 – But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

My Shepherd:    John 10:11 – I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.  John 10:14 – I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.  John 10:27 – My sheep heareth my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Sheep are some of the dumbest creatures and need someone to lead and protect them.

I shall not want:    Philippians 4:19 – But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:    Leviticus: 26:6 – And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land. We can rest in him.

He leadeth me beside the still waters:    Exodus14:21 – And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea: and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

He restoreth my  soul:    Isaiah 40:31 – But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name sake:    Psalms 37: 23 -  The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

Yea though I walk in the valley of the shadows of death:1 Corinthians 15:55 – O death, where is they sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

I will fear no evil: 2 Timothy 1:7 – For God hath not given us  the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Thou art with me: Romans 8:35 – Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword.?

“Psalms 23 Continued”

Matthew 28:20 – Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.

Thy rod and thy staff they comfort  me:    Exodus 4:17 – And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.  Mark 6:8 – And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of  mine enemies:     Luke 22:30 – That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of  Israel.  Revelation 19:9 – And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.  And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

Thou anointest my head with oil:    Hebrews 1:9 – Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.  James 5:14 – Is any sick among you?  Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

My cup runneth over:    1 Corinthians 10:16 – The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ?  The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

When our cup overflows it touches others and we become a  blessing.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:    Exodus 33:19 – And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever:    John 14:2 – In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
