The seven P’s of ministry

Presence…..Possessing  The Living Water

Power…   …The Oneness of God With God

Purpose……Vision & Priorities In God

Peace………Be Still And Know I Am God

Provision…   Know God – No Want

Promise   ….To Him That Overcometh

Praise………God Inhabits The Praise of His People

Psalms 22:3 - But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

The word inhabits means to dwell, live there or to be present in.

1 Peter 2:9 - But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. We were saved and chosen to praise the Lord.

Psalms 107:8 - Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men.  In Psalms 107 we are implored four times to praise the Lord.  When God repeats himself His intent is to get our attention and emphasize the message.

Psalms 107:2 - Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy.  If we do not then the rocks will.

Hebrews 13:15 - By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. A sacrifice is not a sacrifice until it is a sacrifice.

Dead praise is like flowers at your funeral; they are of no value to you.  Smell the roses while you can and praise the Lord because you can.

Prayer Ministry

The one thing that holds this ministry and our work together is our prayer ministry headed up by Karen Page and the prayer team known as the Twelve Disciples.  Did you know that our prayer register has over 300 requests to date?  Each of the names is called out to the Lord everyday not just on Wednesday.  It is a humbling thing to call out 300 names to the Lord knowing that you need as much prayer as any of these names.  Many people will be touched by the Lord through Hands Up Ministry who otherwise might never attend church.

   MISSIONS AT WORK

INVESTMENT FOR AN ETERNITY
By
Tom Meadows

I want you to know that six of the fifteen HUM members responded to the call of God to give the $500.  I still believe there are nine that heard and did not obey but that is between them and God.  Because the nine have not responded does not change what the Lord has spoken to me in the Spirit.

Hands Up Ministry is the Lord's ministry and I pray that He will revive those who have become less enthusiastic about representing Him and serving Him at Philip Morris.  I also pray for His overshadowing anointing on those who still choose to carry the Banner Of Christ at PM even if there is only one or two at a meeting.  Every opportunity that the Lord gives us is a blessing.  Don't throw away your blessings.

Since we have started  a new year in 2008, the Lord has said  "Suffering In 2008 - God Has A Purpose".  Once again I will repeat the quote on our main website page.  "If you cannot walk in His sufferings, the how can you walk in His Glory?"

The next church will be our third church that we have been blessed to build on the mission field.  Is God great?   How great is your God.  Pray for our churches there:

Christmas at Gilpin Court

Pastor Jeremiah

It is time to get started.  Since the last newsletter I have heard from two people.  It is amazing to me that with all the blessings of God that He has bestowed upon us, that we cannot get excited in the summer to help some families out in December.  Lord have mercy on us and stir your people.

As I sat today waiting on a light to change, the Holy Spirit impressed these words on my heart.  “Tom, I am not after people’s money, I am after their souls.”  I believe that if God has our souls He should have our resources.  With that in mind I will wait upon the Lord

You may contact me or Sandy Witherspoon with your commitment.

What will you give Jesus for His birthday in

 2008?

God and The Scientist

God is sitting in Heaven when a scientist says to Him, 'Lord, we don't need you anymore. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out of nothing.

In other words, we can now do what you did in the 'beginning'.'

'Oh, is that so? Tell me...' replies God.

'Well', says the scientist, 'we can take dirt and form it into the likeness of you and breathe life into it, thus creating man.'

'Well, that's interesting. Show Me. '

So the scientist bends down to the earth and starts to mold the soil.

'Oh no, no, no...' interrupts God,

'Get your own dirt.'

HE HOLDS THE KEY

May 22, 2008

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A West Virginia woman is at the Cleveland Clinic after walking the line between life and death. Doctors are calling Val Thomas a medical miracle. They said they can't explain how she is alive.

They said Thomas suffered two heart attacks and had no brain waves for more than 17 hours. At about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, her heart stopped and she had no pulse. A respiratory machine kept her breathing and rigor mortis had set in, doctors said.

"Her skin had already started to harden and her fingers curled. Death had set in," said son Jim Thomas.

They rushed her to a West Virginia hospital. Doctors put Thomas on a special machine which induces hypothermia. The treatment involves lowering the body temperature for up to 24 hours before warming a patient up.

After that procedure, her heart stopped again.

"She had no neurological function," said Dr. Kevin Eggleston.

Her family said goodbye and doctors removed all the tubes.

However, Thomas was kept on a ventilator a little while longer as an organ donor issue was discussed.

Ten minutes later the woman woke up and started talking.

"She (nurse) said, 'I'm so sorry Mrs. Thomas.' And mom said, 'That's OK honey. That's OK," Jim Thomas said.

Val Thomas and her family strongly believe that the Lord granted them their miracle and they want everyone to know.

"I know God has something in store for me, another purpose. I don't know what it is but I'm sure he'll tell me," she said.

She was taken to the Cleveland Clinic for specialist to check her out. Doctors said amazingly she has no blockage and will be fine

Taps

If any of you have ever been to a military funeral in which taps were played; this brings out a new meaning of it. Here is something Every American should know. Until I read this, I didn't know, but I checked it out and it's true:

We in the United States have all heard the haunting song, "Taps." It's the song that gives us that lump in our throats and usually tears in our eyes. But, do you know the story behind the song? If not, I think you will be interested to find out about its humble beginnings.

Reportedly, it all began in 1862 during the Civil War, when Union Army Captain Robert Ellicombe was With his men near Harrison's Landing in Virginia .  The Confederate Army was on the other side of the narrow strip of land.

During the night, Captain Ellicombe heard the moans of a soldier who lay severely wounded on the field.  Not knowing if it was a Union or Confederate soldier, the Captain decided to risk his life and bring the stricken man back for medical attention Crawling on his stomach through the gunfire, the Captain reached the stricken soldier and began pulling him toward his encampment.

When the Captain finally reached his own lines, he discovered it was actually a Confederate soldier, but the soldier was dead.

The Captain lit a lantern and suddenly caught his breath and went numb with shock. In the dim light, he saw the face of the soldier It was his own son. The boy had been studying music in the South when the war broke out.  Without telling his father, the boy enlisted in the Confederate Army.

The following morning, heartbroken, the father asked permission of his superiors to give his son a full military burial, despite his enemy status. His request was only partially granted. The Captain had asked if he could have a group of Army band members play a funeral dirge for his son at the funeral. The request was turned down since the soldier was a Confederate. But, out of respect for the father, they did say they could give him only one musician.

The Captain chose a bugler.  H e asked the bugler to play a series of musical notes he had found on a piece of paper in the pocket of the dead youth's uniform. This wish was granted. The haunting melody, we now know as "Taps" used at military funerals was born.

The words are:

Day is done. Gone the sun. From the lakes. From the hills.  From the sky. All is well.  Safely rest. God is nigh.
Fading light.  Dims the sight. And a star.  Gems the sky.
Gleaming bright. From afar Drawing nigh.
Falls the night. Thanks and praise. For our days Neath the sun.  Neath the stars. Neath the sky.  As we go. This we know. God is nigh

I too have felt the chills while listening to "Taps" but I have
never seen all the words to the song until now.  I didn't
even know there was more than one verse .  I also never
knew the story behind the song and I didn't know if you had either so I thought I'd pass it along.

I now have an even deeper respect for the song than I did
before.

Cell Phone

I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phones.

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?

What if we flipped through it several times a day?

What if we used it to rece ive messages from the text?

What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?

What if we gave it to kids as gifts?

What if we used it as we traveled?

What if we used it in case of an emergency?

This is something to make you go... Hmm... Where is my Bible?

Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we don't ever have to worry About our Bible being disconnected because

Jesus already paid the bill!
