Psalms 23 Amplified Version

The Lord is:       

2 Corinthians 3:17 - Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty

Hebrews 11:6 - But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

My shepherd:     

John 10:11 - I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

John 10:14 - I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

John 10:27 - My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:                              

                      Sheep are some of the dumbest creatures and need someone to lead and protect them.

                      Personal ownership.  Personal commitment.

I shall not want:

Philippians 4:19 - But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:  

Leviticus 26:6 - And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid:  and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.

                    We can rest in him.

He leadeth me beside the still waters:               

Exodus 14:21 - And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

Luke 8:25 - And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.
Peace in the midst of the storm.

              He calms the rough waters of our life.

He restoreth my soul:        

Isaiah 40:31 - But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name sake:  

Psalms 37:23 - The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadows of death:  

1 Corinthians 15:55 - O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

I will fear no evil:  

 2 Timothy 1:7 - For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of  love, and of a sound  mind.

Thou art with me:  

Romans 8:35 - Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Matthew 28:20 - Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.

Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me:   

Exodus 4:17 - And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.   

Mark 6:8 -  And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse.

                    Symbols of God’s power and protection.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:

Luke 22:30 - That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Thou anointest my head with oil:  

Hebrews 1:9 - Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

James 5:14 - Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

My cup runneth over:                       

1 Corinthians 10:16 - The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

                         When our cup overflows it touches others and we become a blessing.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: 

Exodus 33:19 - And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever:  

John 14:2 - In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to  prepare a place for you.
