A Worm and No Man
" But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people." Psalms 22:6
Few harder experiences come to God's children than in these days when those who should be friendly, unjustly make us a reproach, and when they say in the midst of trials, which are not the result of any sin in us, "Aha, Aha," as though they themselves are righteous, when perchance their sin has brought to us the pain--yet He has walked that way before us. He to was "A Reproach of Men"! Shall not the servant walk there too, and be like Him who in such suffering "opened not His mouth"? Lord Jesus, who did'st bear scorn and reproach for me, give me the grace of true humility. Amen.
